You know, I hate to be the bearer of bad news…
It’s just not my thing.

But, I’ve gotta tell you.

If you’re even remotely serious about making money
with an online business and you’re not focusing on
building a list, then I’ve really got to question
whether or not you’re just kidding yourself with
this whole Internet Marketing thing.

I didn’t realize it a few years back but, I was
treating my Internet Business like it was a part-
time hobby.

I read alot and studied alot but didn’t take enough
proper action.

For some reason, it took me a long time to get this
through my thick skull.

I read all the books, studied all the courses and
went to alot of seminars. I heard it over and over
again….

“Nothing happens until you take action”

The problem wasn’t necessarily that I wasn’t taking
action. The problem was that I just wasn’t taking
the proper action.

You know the old saying “If I knew then what I know
now….”

That goes off in my head all the time.

One of the main things that I should have been doing
back then, one action that should have been a top
priority of mine in those days was….building lists.

I can’t tell you how many times I poured hours into
market research, found hot niches, bought pay-per-click
ads and missed this crucial step. I didn’t focus
on building the list.

My focus was on the immediate money from selling
products….not on building the list so I could continue
to send them offers, but to make the fast money.

Dumb, Dumb, Dumb….

as Forest Gump would say “and, that’s all I have to
say about that”

…it was dumb.

So, keep this in mind, please, for your own peace of
mind so that you don’t have to look back and repeat
“If I knew then what I know now….” some time in the
near future, start building lists.

Here’s something I highly recommend that will get you
building lists fast.

I sincerely hope you’ll learn from my past mistakes
and nip your frustrations in the bud by building your
list(s) now.

It’ll literally cut years off of the gap between
learning how to make money and actually making money
on the Internet.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Jerry

Did you follow all of the videos and the
2.5 million emails in your inbox last week
that talked about Frank Kern’s Mass Control
program?

Ya, me too….it got real old, real fast the
way everyone was sending email after email
promoting that thing.

What I wanted to know from you is….

Did you catch what the key to what makes Mass
Control work so well for Frank and anyone who
makes money on the Internet?

Well, it goes back to the basics of marketing.

Frank is big on basics….

That basic starting point for having any kind
of success online, be it big or small, starts
with one thing and one thing only.

And that is…..

Building a list.

Without a list, you don’t have a business.
Not in the Internet Business world anyway.

I’m sure you’ve heard it over and over and
over again that the money is in the list!

And it is absolutely true.

We get alot of emails asking the same question.
And, based on a survey we did a few months back
it seems to be an overall, general problem with
alot of people trying to make money online.

And that question is….

“How do I get started”

That same question keeps popping up.  Sometimes
it is worded a little different and is asked in
a different way but, it all comes down to this…

most people don’t know what to do or how to get
started making money online.

The survey we put out a few months back was a
completely anonymous survey.

Meaning, we don’t know who completed the survey.

We just know what they asked or how they answered
the survey.

Now, I don’t know if you answered the survey
question or not  but if you did, and you were one of the
ones who answered the question of….

“What’s the single biggest challenge you’re facing
with your Internet Business right now?”….

with the answer of “I don’t know where to start….”

I have good news for you.

I know where you can start. You start with building
a list.  A list of people who may be interested in
what you have to offer them to cure their problems
or a way to stave off their boredom.

After all, that’s all people are looking for online.

A way to cure an immediate problem or a way to
entertain themselves because they are bored out of
their gourd.

So, you have to build a list.  How do get started
in your own online business?

Here’s the first step….

Step 1:  Build a list

Don’t worry about having a website, a product, a
service, an idea for a product.  None of that.

Step 1:  Build a list

Don’t worry about Step 2.  It doesn’t exist right
now.  Here’s what you worry about right now….

Step 1:  Build a list

The only thing you really need to know to get
started in building a list is to have a general
idea of what group of people (target market) you
would like to be able to reach to be able sell to
them.

Generally speaking, you want a market that has
money and isn’t afraid to spend it online to find
a cure to their problem or a way to entertain themselves.

That’s it.

Step 1:  Build a list

Imagine having a billboard featuring your URL showing up every time you answer an email, post to a forum or blog or even visit your favorite online game.

Potentially that billboard could be seen by tens-of-thousands of potential website visitors.

You can make it happen and it won’t cost you a dime.

Every time you create a user name, make it your URL.

For example, I have a website called http://www.StopDebtWorry.com.  If I wanted to generate traffic to that site I might sign up for a forum with the user name StopDebtWorryCom or StopDebtWorry-Com.  For most people the user name obviously “translates” into a URL and can generate visitors.

You can do the same for your email:  Make the “name” that displays your URL or your name plus URL.  In my case the return address for my Kevin@All-In-One-Business.com account is Kevin at All-In-One-Business.com rather than Kevin Bidwell.  This gets my URL out there even more and brands me along with it.

This simple change can make a huge difference in your business in the coming years.

Tom from California writes:

“I am collecting email addresses from my visitors, but I don’t know where to keep them. Right now I have just over 100 and I send out email to them using the carbon copy field in my email program. I know this isn’t the best way to do it, but I don’t what to do.”

Dear Tom,

Collecting email addresses from your visitors, prospects and customers is the single-most important aspect of running your business.

Since the can spam act of late 2003, online businesses have had a big change in how they treat email addresses. Done right, email marketing is not only legal but profitable. Done wrong it can lead you into a world of hurt.

In order to manage your email addresses you need to use some sort of list management program or service.

List management programs are computer programs you run on your server (website) which allow you to manage your email addresses. They allow you to send out email to your email lists, allow the individuals to automatically change their contact info or unsubscribe and generally automate the whole process.

List management services are companies which maintain your list for you on their servers. They run the list management software for you and also keep up with the changing requirements of individual internet service providers, etc.

While a few years ago running your own list program from your own server seemed to be a good choice, I never recommend that today. Keeping up with changing requirements is a full-time job and most of us have other things to do. I always recommend you go with a list management service which will keep up with all the details for you—all you need to worry about is marketing your site.

Over the years I have tried a variety of services, but the only one I recommend now is this one:

They have the highest delivery rate in the industry, they are economical and they keep up with all the requirements of the various ISPs and the laws to not only keep you legal but to make sure your emails get delivered.
