“Email Is For Old-Timers”

That’s what my son told me after I impatiently asked him
why he never returns any of my emails.

I recently sent my 17 year old son, who lives with my ex, an
email asking him how his Algebra II/Trig test went and he
never responded.

This wasn’t the first time my emails went unanswered by him.
Very rarely does he ever respond to my emails.

So, I got on the phone and asked him why he never responds
to my emails. I was starting to get irritated by, what I
thought was being ignored.

What he told me kind of opened my eyes and made me realize
that there was a blatant lesson or message that I have been
ignoring.

He said….”Email is for old-timers”

After I took offense to being called an “old-timer”
(I’m only 37), I asked him what he meant and he told me…

“no one uses email anymore…. what’s it even for?”

So, I got to thinking….. being the brilliant person that
I am, and I asked myself…..

“Why would he say that no one uses email anymore? I use it
everyday.” I’m unfortunately, a little addicted to it.
I don’t know if you can be a “little” addicted to anything
but….
(I say unfortunately because although it is a great tool, it
can also be an enormous time-waster)

I came to the following, on-going conclusion….

I think that what is going on is that he is a part of the
whole “Web 2.0″ phenomena going on right now. The next
generation of Internet users that are “hip”, for lack of a
better word, to the “new” way to use the Internet.

He’s a part of Web 2.0 and doesn’t even realize it. He
wasn’t really part of Web 1.0, so how could he relate with
that platform and how it was, and still is, being used.

His use of the Internet may be a bit of an extreme example.

Or is it?

If you stop and think about it….. alot or maybe even most
of the teenagers out there have cell phones these days.

They send text messages to each other practically all day,
every day.

The typical teenager of today communicates in modes and
media that weren’t even dreamt of not so many years ago.

If they aren’t “texting” each other incessantly on their
cell phones, then they are forever on MySpace, Facebook,
Friendster, Bebo or one of the other countless “Social
Networking” sites that are now the way teenagers and,
becoming more common, the rest of us communicate.

These sites are being used to update, inform, educate,
keep in touch, share photos, videos, audios and other
information with friends, family, prospects, customers,
co-workers and business associates.

You can communicate and share just about any kind of
information instantly and in many different forms or
media.

It’s what, I think “the web” was meant to truly be….
a massive network designed to keep anyone and everyone in
touch with anyone and everyone at any given moment.

I’ve been keeping my ear to the ground on all of the
Web 2.0 stuff and I really believe we’re in for an exciting
ride over the next couple of years in the way that the
Internet is evolving and changing into this whole new HUGE,
digital society.

Be on the lookout for some really cool stuff Scott and I
will be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks in
relation to Web 2.0 and how you can benefit from it.
Especially if you are in the “Internet Marketing” profession!

Until then….

Jerry

In the newsletter I wrote an article called:

“Back to The Basics: An Internet Marketing Blueprint and Some Traffic Generation Techniques ”

We’ve had some good feedback already on the newsletter! Thanks everyone!

There was a particular comment that I wanted to address sent in by Dan from www.RedHotAuctionNiches.com

Dan said:

“Nice 1st newsletter guys! I like the way you actually gave us a strategy that we can use, or at least a partial strategy.”

Dan hit the nail on the head! First off, Dan thanks for sending in your comments. They are much appreciated!

When he said that we gave him a partial strategy, he was absolutely right. That’s what makes marketing online so challenging.

There isn’t one set way to do it. There are all kinds of different strategies and techniques that you can use to drive traffic, convert traffic to sales, build lists, etc.

It’s only limited by your imagination.

So, if you havent’ checked out the all-new I-Marketer Newsletter you can do so here:
http://www.all-in-one-business.com/imm/20070831/

Until next time…..
